Administrative / biographical background:

The school was intended originally to be named Upton Priory Grammar School for Boys as Macclesfield King's School was planning to become independent. The later suggested name of Upton Priory High School was changed to Fallibroome to avoid possible confusion with Upton High School in Chester.

 

The school opened with 80 boys in 1978 in the premises of the former Girls' Secondary Modern School at Wilmslow. In 1979 the school moved to the newly- built site at Priory Lane with 250 pupils. By 1988 870 pupils were in attendance
